There are a few places where the world around seems to melt away. In the midst of busyness, it is important to have some time that is just quiet and peaceful. Today I found a few moments while cleaning. First, as I cleaned the church, I was actually alone in the sanctuary. It struck me how quiet and beautiful and, yes, peaceful the sanctuary was in the middle of the week all alone.
I snapped a couple pictures with my cell, but they can not even begin to describe the wonder of the moment. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but there was no words for that moment.
I looked around at the empty room. Most of the time when I am in the sanctuary there are musicians practicing on the stage or people wandering around or people sitting and listening to a sermon. Today it was just quiet. There wasn't a commotion at all.
Later, after cleaning the church, I had another one of those moments. It was chilly outside today, but I decided to hang clothes on the makeshift clothesline (until the hubby puts up a permanent one). The cold and cloudy weather meant that no one seemed to be out and about. It was quiet. The only sound was the clothes in the breeze. I closed my eyes and just basked in the solitude.
I live in a family of seven. I have a two year old. I have children that live to have their friends at my home. Solitude is something that I don't often get. Today, God blessed me more than once with a few moments alone. I thank him for it.
