I am attempting to read Laura's literature selections before she gets to them. I have not gotten to read everything, however. I have not read Rosa yet, and Laura finished the book a couple weeks ago. I also haven't read Choice Stories for Children, and Laura will be done with that book soon.
I did, however, read the Abeka novel Noah Webster - A Man Who Loved Words. Written by Elaine Cunningham, the book is the story of the life of Noah Webster. Famous for writing the dictionary that has become the standard in America and the world, His life was intriguing.
What surprised me was that Noah, despite being raised in a home where Christ and the Scriptures were respected, Noah himself didn't accept Christ until he was older. He was intelligent and curious about anything and everything, even as a boy.
I am excited for Laura to read this book. It kept me engrossed from page to page. The author tried to be very accurate with dates and known information about Noah Webster, though some of the childhood memories are written as they could have happened due to a lack of information. The story flowed and was interesting.
Once again Abeka literature has not let me down.
