Yesterday evening, after an exhausting week of school, I was saddened to learn that my mother had to rush my grandmother to the emergency room. Her breathing had become labored. Since my grandmother has not been in good health for a long time, and was released only two weeks ago from the hospital after a bout with pneumonia, this was scary news. My grandma was once again having trouble breathing. She was eventually taken, by ambulance, to a larger hospital an hour away.
I wanted to see grandma and give some support to my mom, uncle, and daughter. They spent the night at the hospital while my grandma is in the ICU. I left Laura and Megan home with Dad to do their school, but decided to allow Jasmine to go with me. Needless to say, sitting in a waiting room most of the time with only periodic trips in to see Grandma provided time for Jasmine to work on her school work.
She did well. She finished all but her English. Tasha, my homeschooler that graduated in 2011, was a great help for Jasmine. Together, they conquered the work while we were at the hospital. I loved watching the older helping the younger.
Unfortunately, Grandma is going to be in the hospital for a bit. She has Congestive Heart Failure. We are praying for recovery, but know that God has her on loan to us until He decides to take her home.
