A Rough Start to the Week

Some Cutting Work
As we began this week, everything was going wrong.  First, I spent all afternoon and evening Sunday feeling very ill.  It was early to bed for me.  I only got some of the work for this week planned out.  Then, when I woke up, I discovered that the stomach thing I had yesterday was actually a stomach bug... and that my 15 year old now had it.

I felt well enough for coffee and some toast, which was an improvement over Sprite and saltines.

I managed to get a hold of the doctor, but only to make an appointment for my 12 year old with a swollen foot.  Hmm...  bone spur?  Injury?  It'll take till Wednesday till they can take x-rays.

The husband is in the middle of his 12 hour shifts and is only home to sleep.  So, he can't really be a big help right now.

I fumbled through Megan's Kindergarten.  It wasn't just me that didn't have it all together though.  I had to play the phonics DVD twice cause Megan was little Miss Distracted this morning.  Maybe she's a little ADD like Daddy, or maybe she's just 5 with a new puppy in the house.  Either way, we went through the lesson twice.  Since Megan was the one kid that I didn't schedule, I just kind of did a little of everything that I had on last week's list.

Laura never did begin the new typing program, after I waited impatiently for it to arrive in the mail.

I still haven't begun the read alouds for the older girls.  Today was going to be the start, but a child throwing up caused me to put it off.

I did get Megan to the library.  I think we broke a record this week when we checked out eleven books for one child in one day.  The children's librarian is beginning Story Time in a couple of weeks.  She wants Megan to come.  Megan may be a couple months too old, since it is for preschoolers, but because Megan is homeschooled and done by the afternoon, she gets to go!

I still haven't graded the work that Jasmine got done today.  And I am proud of the fact that she got anything done considering she threw up at one point.

Jasmine's spelling and vocabulary still hadn't arrived.  I called the lady that is in charge of Jasmine's homeschooling only to find out that it hasn't even been ordered.  My husband and I are having second thought about using an umbrella school for Jasmine.

The day hasn't been a total catastrophe, but it has had its challenges.  On days like this, it is best to just take a deep breath and realize tomorrow is another day.  God's mercies are new every morning.  Even though today didn't go as planned, I will have a fresh batch waiting for me tomorrow morning.

Now... to go grade those papers.
