There is nothing better at the end of a long day than to just enjoy my children. Yesterday began early, with a two and a half hour trip to pick up Laura and her friend from church camp where they had been for five days. Then, it was a quick visit with my sister, and another long trip back home. After nearly five hours in a minivan, I was exhausted.
But, it was my birthday. (No, I am not telling my age, LOL.) I was ready for a nap, but stayed awake long enough for my husband to make a small dinner and a birthday cake. Megan "helped". She was an excellent taste tester for the homemade frosting Daddy whipped up.
The greatest gift was my daughters that were able to be home. Just having my family around me on my birthday, baking me a cake and singing to me, was priceless. These are the moments that matter, when we are together. I had missed Laura while she was gone. She had only ever been gone for that length of time with family. I was happy that, despite his crazy schedule, my husband purposely made me a cake. It wasn't fancy... but it was delicious!
Despite a very long day, I know that I am blessed.
