This is my Grandma when she was quite a bit younger. We are planning an 80th birthday for her. My mom brought over some old pictures of her yesterday to scan onto my computer. I love old photos. The glimpses of a moment of time have always fascinated me. Having the pictures of my grandmother were even more intriguing. These aren't pictures of someone's past that I don't have a connection with. These are pictures of my MY family history.
My grandmother, a devout Christian most of her life, has led an interesting life. She has been a strong influence on me. She followed God even when it wasn't easy. She homeschooled when not many others were, and had to fight for the right to do so. She is a tiny little lady with a powerhouse faith that she doesn't merely talk about. She lives it every single day.
I am glad I got the opportunity to scan the pictures into my computer. I plan to put them on disk, and maybe print some out. I would love to have these for my children and their children. Most of all, I hope to one day touch lives the way she has touched lives.
