Tonight, during our weekly family devotion, I got out the Girl Scout cookies for dessert. About half way through the devotion, one of the girls put cookies to the side and asked me if I would bake some cookies instead.
Of course I thought the girl was crazy. "You are holding cookies." I told her.
"Yeah, but your cookies are better."
After the devotion I decided home made cookies did sound good. I made some. I felt a little silly because we have the Girl Scout cookies ready to be eaten from Laura's troop.
Well, my fresh baked cookies were eaten quickly... even by kids that had eaten a couple of the Girls Scout cookies just an hour before.
Girl Scout cookies are unique and good. Every year I spend more than I should on the little delectable creations. I totally fell in love with the new cookie this year, the Dulce de Leche. However, my home baked sugar cookies were a lot cheaper, and did taste better.
It reassured me that the path I seem to be on in my home, baking things from scratch and nurturing my family, is the right path. Laura is in Girl Scouts, and I will support the troop. It is nice to know that by comparison my cookies were more popular.
I also am comforted by the fact that home made cookies are made with just a few ingredients and without a lot of preservatives and additives. Natural foods are starting to become more important to me the more I delve into making things homemade.
