What a mess the last couple days have been! A close friend was in a car accident after leaving our home. He served to miss a raccoon, and ended up bouncing off a couple trees. In the ICU with broken ribs, a broken sternum, and a lacerated liver, his condition was quite serious.
I rushed with my daughter the two hour drive to where this young man was life-lined. We prayed and visited, and the young man stabilized.
I went to leave a few hours later, only to discover that my van's power steering was not working. I could barely turn the wheel.
To make a long story short, my van was towed and is being fixed. My sister and brother-in-law were gracious enough to come get me and help me get things situated.
But I feel like an inept failure. The things wrong with my van were a lot more extensive than I knew. Down to one vehicle the last several months, my husband had used the van to get to and from work. I've only driven it a couple times per week.
I sometimes question God. My children see so many others in their lives where the parents can afford to do so much. We don't live like that. Being a stay at home mom with only a modest salary doesn't often equal success in the world's eyes. When the only running vehicle breaks down, money that is already tight literally feels like the world is caving in.
Seeing the success of others, feeling like a charity case... it's humbling. I just keep praying for God to walk with me, cause it is exhausting trying to keep up with the calamities that have fallen on us recently.
