Our Family

Our family was put together by God.   We are a Christian family that didn't start out that way.  We are a blended family that is trying to live for Christ.  After dealing with the fallout of our sin, we try to live our lives now to Honor and Glorify Jesus Christ!  To read our story, please read My Testimony - Time to Share.

We are still growing in Christ every day.  God has led us to many things that have surprised us.  He led us to homeschooling.  He led us to a forgiveness that could only have come from Him.  He has led us, as a family, to ministry with children.  As He leads, we follow, even when it scares us completely and totally.

I wanted to take a few moments to introduce our family.

The leader of our home is my husband, DJ.

DJ is a very mellow, soft spoken man that has totally fallen in love with Jesus.  He works hard to provide for us all.  He longs to study God's Word more thoroughly and become a minister as his father did before him.  He is a man that desires to lead his family as directed in the Bible, despite the mistakes we have made in the past.

I am the wife and mom... and homeschool teacher, and housekeeper, and all sorts of roles. I also went back to college after twenty-five years to gain my Associate's Degree in Library Science.

I have never felt the calling to learn as much as I can about what God desires as I have recently.   As a Christian, God has led me on numerous adventures... even though sometimes they didn't feel like adventures.  Learning to trust God has been a struggle, but each and every day He leads me to new paths.  I long to teach my five daughters the lessons He is teaching me.  I have a heart to teach children about Christ, mine and others, so I teach children at church.

My oldest daughter is Kimberly.

Kim is my go-getter.  She is vivacious and always busy.  She graduated from public school in 2010.   She has been involved in music and ministry at church since she was a teenager. One of her greatest struggles is diabetes.  She was diagnosed at thirteen with type-one diabetes.  Kim is married.  Her husband is named Caleb.  They now has two precious sons, named Samuel and Nehemiah.  They are youth pastors, associate pastors, and worship leaders at their church.

My next daughter is Natasha.

Natasha is a beautiful, smart, sensitive girl. She was homeschooled her last two years of high school and graduated in 2011.  In August 2012 we learned that Tasha also is a type 1 diabetic. In May 2015, despite some serious health challenges, she graduated from college.  She currently works for a local school and is considering furthering her education.

My step-daughter is Jasmine.

Jasmine has been the little cherub in my life since she was two.  She began to be homeschooled in her ninth grade year.  She graduated and has gone on to work with those with special needs and with children.  She was married to a young man named Dane and, last year, had her first child, Wyllalynn.

Then there is Laura.

Laura was the first child I brought home to homeschool.  When she was young, she was painfully shy.  Ironically, being homeschooled helped her to be more outgoing.  She graduated from our homeschool in 2018.  She was promoted to manager at a local business and has worked in management since.  In 2019, she had a son, Tristan.

My baby girl is Megan.

When I first began homeschooling, my Meggy was only just over one year old.  She has been homeschooled her entire life.  She loves to read and sing.  She is artistic. loving to paint and draw.  She enjoys participating in the local children's theater.  She is currently beginning the eighth grade and is thirteen.

God blessed me with an amazing family and beautiful, strong, wonderful children.  He blessed me with a husband that is humble and God-fearing and my best friend after Christ.  He has blessed me with four beautiful grandbabies.   I pray for this family daily and am so thankful for them.
