With the new schedule my husband is beginning, and the schedules of five children, I had to begin again with some of my planning. I now have a redone calendar that covers my family life. This doesn't include homeschool planning or financial planning. This only includes schedules. My husband's work schedule, my daughter's work schedule, church activities, appointments, etc. We aren't the type of family that is over-scheduled. We just are a larger family with lots of people needing to live their lives.
For instance, my step-daughter is with us on certain days. I have arranged the schedule so that she can be with us on evenings when her father is here. She is welcome anytime, but I want him to be able to see her as much as possible. It never mattered as much when he was working days, but with him working evenings it makes a big difference.
I also have to make sure that I have my daughter's work schedule written down. Her days vary, and I am usually her transportation until she can afford a car. This morning I forgot she worked this afternoon and had gone to town. She was a few minutes late, and I knew that wasn't acceptable. I need these things written down.
On our fridge now is a calendar for January and February. I have written down what I know about so far. I used to do this all the time. In fact, I lived by the calendar. The last couple years as my girls have gotten older and my husband had a Monday thru Friday job, it wasn't as important. There were only a few scattered appointments for doctors and such. Now, it has become important again.
This is just one more step in me trying to organize my life. I tend to not be an organized person, but I now see how important it is to change that fact.
