The New Year has started. We spent the morning cleaning up from the Holidays. We started by un-decorating the tree. We have had the tree up since the day after Thanksgiving. The needles were drying out and falling everywhere. The room looked very empty once the tree was hauled out of the house.

We loaded the computer desk with the breakable decorations from around the house as we packed up the unbreakable ones in a storage chest. I guess I never realized how many little knic-knacs we actually have for Christmas until they are all sitting in one spot. Some of these are old, some are handmade by the girls or other loved ones, and some are newer. Most were gifts. It's only at Christmas that these treasures are around. I have developed this thing lately where a lot of clutter gets on my nerves. Having all these doo-dads around is a little bothersome. Sitting throughout the house, they aren't bad. Clumped together, there seems to be a lot of them.
Jasmine and Tasha decided to begin wrestling on the floor during clean up. Daddy, who was vacuuming, decided to jump in on the torture.
I decided to have a nice dinner to kick off the New Year. I made a wonderful spiral ham and a bunch of sides. The girls set the table with our pretty lace tablecloth. It was a nice meal, and a nice way as a family to spend the first day of 2010.
We'll probably play some games this evening. We are getting ready to make some adjustments to our lives. My husband begins his new job in a day or so, and the hours will be a change for us. For today, I just wanted to have some time together as a family before the new job begins and we start school again.
