Learning about Dew and Condensation

Laura is learning about water in science. Today she did an experiment in condensation. First she filled a glass with ice and water. Then she put in some food coloring.

Laura added two colors...cause one would be boring for her.

She watched the colors mix. When condensation formed on the outside of the cup, Laura wiped the cup with a napkin. No, the condensation was not the same color as the water in the cup. It didn't come from there.

It was an interesting experiment, and an awesome way to teach Laura about the water cycle.
Heart of Dakota seems to do a great job with science. The weekly experiments are simple, but illustrate the point of the lessons well. The science is actually quite in-depth for an elementary program, yet it isn't over her head or overwhelming. Laura has learned a lot this year about the Arctic Tundra and Deserts. Earth Science is a favorite of mine. She seems to be enjoying it too. Before the school year is done, she will have learned about Dinosaurs (from a biblical perspective), Coral Reefs, the Constellations, Louis Pasteur and Leonardo DaVinci. For once, since we began homeschooling, I don't feel an urge to try to supplement the science.
