Went on a library run today. I didn't get as many books as normal. This week Laura is studying maps for Social Studies. It wasn't what I planned a couple weeks ago, but it is a nice change of pace. Laura has been doing a lot of reading for Social Studies and Science, and for the next week or two we are going to do some worksheets and simple book work. I'm using the lesson plan from Learn At Home for the map work.
I did get Laura some reading books. She is going to read The Bears on Hemlock Mountain. She really enjoyed The Courage of Sarah Noble when we read it a few months ago. Alice Dalgleish wrote both books. This one looks just as entertaining.
I also picked up some Christian books for Laura to read over the next couple weeks. She has been getting so much done so fast, I thought these would be a nice addition.
For our read a-loud I picked A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I'm giving us awhile to read this book. At a chapter a day it will take us nearly three weeks. If Laura really loves the book she'll bug me to read more than one chapter a day. However, I want to take a little time with this book so that we can just enjoy the story.
