One of the benefits of homeschooling is that my children get to spend time with Dad. If they were in public school, their time with him would be limited to weekends and only a couple evenings per week. My husband works 12 hour shifts from 5 in the evening until 5 in the morning. He's gone Sunday through Tuesday. He sleeps most of the day Wednesday. Thursday thru Saturday are his days with his family. If they were in public school, their time with him would be limited. He also would not be as active in their education.
This week was our first week of homeschooling. My husband was an amazing help on Thursday and Friday. He did Megan's entire Kindergarten both days while I worked on other things. He checked papers, helped the kids look up answers, and dug into his Bible with Jasmine, looking up verses and helping her to learn how to use a concordance. It was wonderful! Best of all, he knows what his kids are learning and can discuss with them how he feels about things. This is especially important in areas of our faith. The connection the girls have with their father is amazing. I am blessed he is such a wonderful husband and father.
