Family Dinners

We weren't spending enough time with family.  It's so easy to get busy and put off spending time together.  So, every other Saturday, I set it up to have family dinners.  I want my kids to spend time with the family that can make it to the dinners.  We all pitch in with food, and we just spend time together.
The girls are growing up so fast.  If we don't intentionally spend time together, it won't happen except for holidays.
My oldest daughter is moving out in a couple weeks.  These dinners we have had recently have given her time to spend with everyone before she moves several States away.
We try to keep the kids busy.  They watch movies or color.
Having grown up with family gatherings like this all the time, I know that they leave quite an impression on the children as they grow up.  The importance of family is only impressed on the kids if the parents make family important.  There are times in life when the kids would rather be with friends.  However, they still manage to have fun when they are all together.
Memories of Great Grandma might be few for the younger children. My older girls have lots of memories of times spent with her.  Her health isn't the best anymore.  I want to take advantage of our family time so that we all can enjoy Grandma, her infinite wisdom and her loving presence.
