The Many Faces of Megan

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year to take pictures.  The colors of the season are beautiful.  This year it is a challenge to get great pictures, though, since my camera died.  So, while I have the camera a friend let me borrow, I decided to grab a few pictures.  Today, I got some of Megan.  She is a kid FULL of personality.  Unfortunately, getting that personality on film is a challenge since she is very uncooperative around cameras.  I'm not sure why because she is the first child I've ever had that wasn't a natural ham when the camera appeared... at least at this age.  My older girls may shy away now and then now if they think they don't look good, but when they were young, they loved to have their pictures taken by mom.
Megan's little toothless grin, from prematurely losing her tooth, is priceless.  Her blue eyes and curly locks make her just adorable.
She is such a princess.  She loves anything to do with princesses.  She likes pink and sparkly and dressy.
However, there is another side to Megan.  In order to show her many faces, I had to put in one of her having a crying jag just moments before she posed for the other pictures.  Yes, she can be quite dramatic.
Most people that see her say that she looks like me... and she does, poor dear.  She's the only one of my children to have my hair.  I am praying that she won't have the battles with it that I have had my entire life.  Naturally curly is not something that is always fun to deal with.
She may be stubborn and mischievous, but she is also precious and fun and full of life.  She is a definite Mommy's Girl, though she has daddy pretty well wrapped around her finger.  We never expected to have more children.  My husband wanted another child two years before I got pregnant with Megan. (I think he was giving a boy one more chance.)  When I got pregnant with Megan, it was a complete surprise.

She does have her quiet moments, but they are rare and few.  Usually, if she is awake and quiet, we know that is a sure sign that she is doing something she shouldn't.
Here's some of the attitude we are used to.  Beautiful... and ornery.  That is Megan in a nutshell.  Yet, we couldn't imagine life without her.  She should be interesting to homeschool.  I am a bit nervous that teaching her may be one of the biggest challenges I have every faced.  She's definitely a hands-on, artistic kind of girl.  She may not be content with some books.  She's a hands on kind of kid.

Guess we'll find out when we begin organized preschool activities.  Until then, my plan is to just enjoy her for the amazing kid she is.
