When The Flu Hits Your Home

It began on with my sister missing church on Sunday.  Sick, possibly food poisoning, she couldn't get out of bed.  On Monday I babysat her son for her because she was so ill.  He seemed fine.  Then, on Tuesday, Megan began throwing up.  I quickly sent my oldest to a friends house because it was obvious that food poisoning was not what was happening.  It was the flu.  My oldest, being a diabetic, has a much harder time when she gets ill.
On Tuesday evening it hit me, the mom.  I spent the night trying to take care of a sick three year old while ill myself.  My husband came home from work on Wednesday morning and stayed awake for over 24 hours tending his family and helping Laura with her schooling.

Then, on Wednesday evening, Tasha became ill.  In the middle of the night, Laura became ill.  So, here we are on Thursday with two children in bed, one that hasn't been able to come home for a couple of days, and my step-daughter being kept at her mom's home for protection from this illness.  Church was canceled last night because this illness is so contagious and fast moving.

I'm feeling better.  I'm weak, but improving.  Megan still hasn't eaten much.  Laura and Tasha are spending the day in bed.  The flu hasn't hit us this hard in a long time.  So, this week hasn't been overly productive.  I guess we'll see where tomorrow takes us and pray that we all recover quickly and completely.  I'm also praying my husband, who has been wonderful about trying to take care of us all, doesn't contract the same sickness.

The goal right now is to disinfect and wash everything.  I have all the windows open (so happy it's a warm day)  to air out the home.  I've been slowly, as much as my energy level will allow, getting things cleaned and germs killed.  Lysol and Germ-x have been my best friend the last couple of days.

While sick, not able to get out of bed, I did get to read two books, both by Robin Lee Hatcher.  I don't often get to read a good Christian story for me, let alone two in 36 hours.  So, in looking for the positive side, this is one of the benefits I discovered.

Now, off to clean the rest of the house...
