The Lazy Days of Summer

The days are going by, and they seem to be going by quickly.  We're trying to enjoy the time we have relaxing together, but it has been VERY hot outside.  We haven't been turning on the air conditioning much, but once in awhile the heat just gets to us and we give in.

We've gone on walks in the evening when the summer heat has died down a little.  We've played at the park then too.  Playing during the middle of the day is nearly impossible because the playground equipment is so hot it would burn the skin.

During the hot mid-day, we usually stay inside and just take brief ventures outside.  I hang laundry or pick some the ripening cucumbers from the garden.  Even if the air isn't on, it is still cooler inside than outside.
Jasmine has had no problem eating, despite the heat.  What is it about teenagers?  I made spaghetti one day and she loaded up her plate.  Usually, I would yell at her for gluttony, but sadly, she eats it all and never gains an extra ounce.  She's in the middle of a growth spurt that has me fearing she'll end up ten feet tall!

In a week my oldest daughter will be back from her visit to Louisiana.  We'll have a week or so as a family before my step-daughter returns to her mom's for the end of summer vacation.  The days are flying by, and soon it will be time for school to begin.  I look forward to that in a way, back to a routine.  Most of me just wants to enjoy the days I have with the lighter schedule and the family surrounding me.
