It's that time of year again, and the job is not a small one. It's time to go through the clothes and change out the seasons. It has taken me all day to make headway on the 10 year old's and the 3 year old's piles of clothes. I'm still not done. Coats and sweaters are being put away. I've had to adjust for the fact that Laura has once again gone up in size. So, out of the closet came all of her jeans and in went the next size.
A part of me is very happy that I kept all those clothes in tubs from my older children. However, a part of me also wishes we had the money to just go shopping. I mean, this is a HUGE job, and it isn't half as fun as buying new. However, once the job is done I am sure I'll feel that it was worth it to save clothes and money.
The three year old is in two different sizes, which makes things a little difficult. I'm pulling shirts from one bin and shorts from another. I am hoping that all those adorable outfits she got for her birthday from family and friends will fit her. Most of them are cute little outfits where the shirt and shorts are the same size. As for the outfits that were supposed to go together in the bins... well, some of them are just not going to work as a set.
Along with the massive change of season, I've been trying to catch up on the piles of laundry. The rain has hampered my ability to dry them on the line. The one nice day we've had over the last few, and of course I was not home. So, I gave in and just began to use my dryer. It isn't something I usually do since I like line dried clothes so much more. However, between being sick and then super busy, I just need to get this stuff done.
I've had to keep Megan occupied. Luckily, Laura is off spending the day with a friend. That has left me free to keep whatever clothes I like on her. Actually, I had a large tub full of clothes for each child. Neither one should be lacking for this summer. Laura is going to need a swimsuit. Other than that, I haven't run across anything they absolutely have to have. A benefit of homeschooling is that used or hand me down clothing is just fine. A benefit of summer is that things can be a little simpler. It doesn't take layers upon layers to keep warm.
