Do you know how many times in the last few weeks I have googled the word Homemade attached to something I need to make? I've researched all sorts of recipes for food items and cleaning products. Truthfully, it's kind of fun. It may be because it's new and exciting, but I am enjoying the experimenting too see what works and what I like.
What isn't fun is being in debt. My husband and I have a serious plan for getting ourselves out of debt. We've drawn inspiration from all sorts of different places. If that means making things from scratch, then that is what we'll do. It may even become a habit. Right now, I have to think about it. I am learning and re-learning how to do things. Some of this I used to know. I spent a lot of time growing up on my Grandma's farm. On Grandma's farm, she made nearly everything with the work of her hands. She planted her gardens and hung her laundry. She baked her bread and canned her veggies.
I don't know how much I'll do. There is a lot I don't know, and have never learned. I was little when my Grandma had her farm. I remember watching her do things, but I don't remember helping her with much more than gathering the eggs. Since I doubt I'm going to buy chickens, that really doesn't help me at this point.
I guess home schooling is not just for kids. I'm getting an interesting education this year.
