I'm not usually a big baker. However, in my quest to save money on groceries, I've come to the realization that some of my habits need to change. Yes, it is easier to buy pre-made foods. However, it can be very expensive when I am feeding such a large number of people.
I made biscuits today. I can't really say that it was from scratch. I had a box of baking mix. I won't feel bad that it wasn't completely home made. Compared to my usual rolls of biscuits, I consider my beginning attempts a success.
I'm considering making our bread here at home. I will have to get the whole wheat flower, since we mostly eat whole wheat bread. I have some that I was using in my bread machine. I didn't really like the results from my bread machine so I quit using it. It was an old bread machine, and the bread was burning.
Our grocery bill is the one area that I haven't focused on the way I should. Oh, we've cut back. I haven't done the planning I should. I haven't looked enough into making more of our food instead of buying the pre-made stuff. That's next on my list of things to do.
My grocery budget is quite small and I need to do what I can to make sure that my family's needs are being met. I guess this is choosing the road that may seem like more work, but will ultimately lead me to the goal of getting my finances back on track.
