A Glimpse at Our Week

It was a bit of a tough week.  On Monday I had two daughters in the ER, one with an illness and the other with an injury.  The virus that sent one daughter to the ER also had my husband running a fever and feeling unwell.  Yesterday, two daughters went off the road while driving when one of them had blood sugar dropping quickly.  It hasn't been an uneventful week.

However, school went on for the most part.  The older two are slowly finishing up subjects for the year, even though it is only March.  My oldest, Jasmine, is working determinedly to finish her senior year and be done.  She has completed several subjects with only History, English, and Spanish left.

My high school sophomore has also finished a couple subjects, and has set a goal to finish her Earth and Space science in the next week or two.

Both girls have been reading great biographies.  Laura had some added lessons on Jim Elliott and Nate Saint in English.

Megan is loving school.  She recited Four by the Clock today by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.  She also sang Holy, Holy, Holy, the hymn she has spent the last several weeks listening to and learning.

This week seemed to be the week Megan finished several books we've been reading.  Next week we begin three new books!  Megan just began reading a new literature selection yesterday as well.

Our reading time for school had been entertaining. We finished Ben and Me by Robert Lawson, though neither of us wanted to see it end.  Next week we begin the story Baby Island by Carol Ryrie Brink, the same author that wrote Caddie Woodlawn.

Math has been going well for Megan. We began Times Tales a couple weeks ago to supplement her Singapore math, and she LOVES the videos.

Next week is Spring Break for the local public school children.  We are holding off on our Spring Break until we go on vacation in a couple weeks.

I feel like we got a lot done this week, despite the tough spots.  The warmer weather has definitely helped lift our spirits.
