Her First Library Card

When Megan was younger, I dreaded library trips.  Megan was such a busy young girl that library time was challenging.  She wanted to run and be loud, not find a quiet activity or look at books.

Now that she is older and loves books, going to the library is fantastic!  We look at books together.  We have a newfound love of audio books, and can't get enough!  We even look at the movies.

Megan is at an age that she will quietly look at books or play blocks on her own while I look for books for me or find read aloud for us to share.

Today, Megan began asking when she could get a library card of her own.  I hadn't thought of getting her one, since we always go to the library together and simply use my card.  However, the librarian said Megan could have her own.

It became a right of passage...  her first library card!  Megan felt very grown-up when she got to sign her name on the back of the card.  I found it cute that she used cursive, which she is still learning.

She forgot to put on her last name.  I told her she needed to put her last name on the card too.  She added the last name quickly, forgetting to capitalize the first letter.

Yes, I will keep this card for a long time.

Megan was so excited about her library card that she wanted a picture taken.  I gladly granted her wish.
