Another Unexpected Curve

Two of my daughters had surgery Wednesday morning.  My 17 year old had her wisdom teeth removed.  My 20 year old had an ovarian cyst and a spot of endometriosis removed.  I knew it would be a rough week.

My 17 year old was really swollen.  Then, on Friday, she began vomiting.  Off to the ER we went.  Got some different meds and she's improved.

Then, on Saturday, my 20 year old, Tasha, who was my first homeschool graduate, was rushed to the ER by her fiancé.  She, too, was vomiting.  Unfortunately, it wasn't her meds.

She was in DKA - Diabetic Keto Acidosis.  She is a type 1 diabetic. Immediately the doctor began looking for signs of infection from the surgery.  A CAT scan showed big problems.  She was stabilized and rushed back into surgery.

She has a perforated rectum from the surgery.  The tear was three inches long. For nearly four days she had been leaking hazardous bacteria into her abdomen.

The surgeon fixed the tear.  Recovery for my daughter looks a bit rough.  What 20 year old wants have their entire life just stopped?

Right now, to help her recover from the acidosis, my beautiful daughter is on a ventilator.  Hopefully she will be off of that by tomorrow?

I'm still wondering how a simple, outpatient procedure turned into my daughter in the ICU in critical condition, with a ventilator, a rerouted colon, a huge incision, and the necessity of another surgery in a few months..  Two weeks ago my daughter got engaged.  Now, her fiancé is beside himself with worry.

Many are praying. I'm asking for prayer from any of my readers.  Thank you for any prayers offered.
