Learning Self-Defense

Earlier this evening a local police officer came to our ladies' meeting to talk about situational awareness and teach some basic self-defense. Our youth girls were also invited, so I took Laura and Jasmine.
It was very good.  I believe in knowing how to protect yourself.  I sent my older daughter, Tasha, to a woman's self-defense course while she was in high school.  It really does help, teaching girls and women to be aware of their surroundings and how to at least give them an edge if attacked.

Laura wasn't keen on being the police officer's Guinea pig, but Jasmine volunteered.  Seeing short little Jasmine next to this big officer was amusing, but it proved a vital point:  even smaller women can put up a fight and take down a larger, stronger assailant.

It was an educational night.
