Easter morning dawned bright and pretty. My girls, that were home, dressed up in pretty clothes for church. They got some candy in a basket, not because we believe in a bunny, but because we all have a Cadbury egg obsession. Then, we headed to the church.
It was a powerful service, with a special sung by my oldest daughter and my sister that brought me to tears. Then we had a human video to the song True Love by Phil Wickham. As a participant, I didn't get to see the reactions. I only heard about them later, and I heard that the video was used by God to touch hearts. That was our desire, to touch hearts for Christ on the day we honor His resurrection.
After that, we had a Resurrection Egg lesson in Kid's Church. This year we scaled down our Easter service. We wanted the focus to be on Christ. For the last few years we have used Easter as an outreach to the community. We would hold a giant egg hunt. Unfortunately, we noticed that people came for the egg hunt, but would skip the service. We didn't feel that we were reaching anything for Jesus, and so we changed things.
This year, after our lesson, we did have an egg hunt. A bunch of pre-filled eggs had been donated. However, it was a small one for the children that were in the service and learning about Jesus. I was happy with how stress-free the entire morning went. It was a morning that I can only describe as blessed. God was in every aspect of our Easter morning.
