Megan and I began something new this past week. A few weeks ago I picked up the book Teach Your Child to read in 100 Easy Lessons. I found it very cheaply, and have heard so many great reviews about this book, that I decided to try it out.
I was thrilled to find free pages that coordinate with the book on Donnay Young Printables. Now, I can simply print up the lesson for handwriting practice for Megan as we go through the lessons.
We started with lesson one. I will probably repeat some of the lessons as we go because Megan's fine motor skills could use some extra practice. I am excited to have more snuggle time on the couch with my little girl! The lessons in the program have us sitting on the couch together going through each step. It is teacher intensive, but I don't have a problem with that. At this stage, I want to be the one to teach my child to read. Any other method, whether it is a computer game or an educational video, is only a supplement to what I want to be teaching my daughter.
