And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
I was reminded of this verse today. It is one I go to often when the world doesn't seem to make sense and our circumstances are overwhelming. I look at this verse, read the words "All Things", and I have to apologize to God for allowing myself to live in fear and frustration... if only for a day or two.
Driving home today from the store I saw this sight. The clouds, gathering into a storm. The light was shining through. It was beautiful, and it reminded me that God is always there, through the storm clouds of life. Sometimes the clouds may seem to cover Him, but He's still there... and like the sun, He is mightier than any storm. The storms will pass and the Light of God will be shining steady. He always was shining, even when we didn't see Him. I just got distracted by the storm.
"All Things" work for the good. It doesn't feel or seem like it when disaster strikes. It doesn't feel like it when you see the problems and feel like a failure because you can't solve them. It comes down to whether I am going to believe the Word of God or live in despair. Even if I lost everything, I have Jesus. I almost lost my daughter a few weeks ago. Two doctors told me she should have been dead and were shaking their heads in amazement that she is alive. Now, when the repercussions of that hospital stay are hitting us, the expenses we incurred, and then everything else going wrong... It made me want to give up.
I am not sure how we will recover financially. God is going to have to be in charge of that. All we can do is our best and continue giving to God and others. I thank God that I have already purchased this next year's homeschool curriculum. All I need is a few supplies and we will be ready to go. The rest... I am trusting my Lord.
