Some Light-Hearted Reading

I decided to give both Laura and me a break for a week or two and have some light reading.  We are about to get into some books like the Little House on the Prairie series others that relate to American History.  With that prospect looming, I wanted to have some lighter stuff for fun first.

I found The Case of the Choosey Cheater at a local library.  There are several in the series published by Zondervan.  I decided to give them a try and see if Laura would like them.  It's a below Laura's reading level, but that's alright once in awhile.  I don't mind her reading easier stuff mixed with her school stuff and all the other books we are reading, as long as it isn't all she reads.

For our read aloud we are going to begin Ramona Quimby, age 8.  Laura would never choose a Ramona book on her own.  I read them as a girl, and liked them.  I've been reading the Life of Faith books for myself.  I will probably read them to Laura, but I think I will wait a bit.  They are wonderful, but I fear that Laura won't get into them yet.  I think they are for girls just a bit older than her.

So, that is some of the reading plan for the next couple weeks.  Laura will finish Song of the Brook this week and then hit hard on The Red Rag Riddle for ACE.  Independent reading and Read aloud time has now been decided.  I think I finally have the next week's worth of lessons planned.  (Hurray!)
