Weekly Wrap-up 3-30-09

Last week got very busy at the end of it. I never posted an end of week report. I've missed this a few times, but I don't want to make it a habit. I use this to help keep track of what we cover. I think it keeps me accountable if I know I am going to write what we covered.
Anyway, we did school four days last week. It was a challenge because my older girls were on Spring Break. Laura did not think it was fair for her to 'Do School' when her sisters didn't. However, I stood firm. She still had Thursday off so I could take my oldest to the doctor. All in all, I think we did pretty well.

BIBLE - Laura read about Solomon last week in her Old Testament Stories. she also read Luke 2-4. Laura has been working on memorizing verses for Sunday School, Stars, and Prims. She is making progress. She has no problem with most of the verses as long as they aren't long.

MATH - Laura covered three lessons in Abeka Math. I also had her do a worksheet on Friday reviewing multiplication of fours. I wanted her to have some extra practice with that before we moved on to multiplying fives.

LANGUAGE ARTS - Laura worked on Dictionary Skills last week. She usually doesn't have a problem with alphabetizing. However, using a dictonary is a newer skill

SCIENCE - Laura studied volcanos last week. We didn't get around to any experiments or models, but she at least got an introduction to what volcanos are and what happens when they erupt.

HISTORY - Laura is still studying the American Revolution. She focused on The Boston Tea Party and Paul Revere last week. This week she is focusing on Benedict Arnold. She really loves the book about the American Revolution we are reading and how people lived then.

READING - Laura read the American Girl book Kirsten last week. She liked the book. The American Girl books aren't her favorites but she will read them here and there.

Our schedule last week was crazy, but it was all stuff from life interfering with trying to homeschool. Hopefully things will ease up this week. There is no guarantee of that, however, since I am expecting contractors and construction workers to show up soon to replace my roof. I am not sure how homeschooling will go during hammering and contruction.
