weekly wrap-up 12-06-08

Despite taking a day off, we actually got quite a bit accomplished.

MATH - Laura finished 8 lessons in ABeka Arithmetic. We've been covering this at a pretty fast pace to make sure we were where I wanted us to be. However, the concepts are getting more difficult for her. I think it is time to slow down a little.

SCIENCE - Laura finished another A.C.E. Pace. We are still studying the Solar System. Laura read 2 books this week on Space and the Solar System. We'll continue this for another week or so. It's not an in-depth study this year, just a really good introduction to the Heavens that God created.

HISTORY - We are now into the Colonial Days. Laura is reading about how they lived then. She is reading her Heritage Studies book. She read Meet Felicity, the American Girl book. She is about half-way through The Courage Of Sarah Noble, a book I find just adorable.

READING - Laura is back to doing Reading Skills every day. We had cut down to two days a week, but Laura really likes the work in this area. I have to make time for Wordly Wise, so I may alternate these two subjects. Not sure yet. I still have some lessons to plan.
We also finished The Children's Book of Virtues as a read-aloud. Now we may start Little House on the Prairie or we may find something about Christmas and start Little House after the New Year. That is, if I can keep Laura from reading any more of it on her own.

LANGUAGE ARTS - Spelling Lesson went well. Laura didn't take her final test, but she only missed one on her pretest. We worked on Adjectives and Capitalization this week.

WRITING - Worked on J, K, and L in Cursive. Learned a little about Paragraphs this week.

BIBLE - Laura is going through Moses Old Testament Stories. She read Matthew 11 and 12. In Daisies she finished her respect badge and began giving (appropriate for Christmas).

I have a couple new things we are going to begin, hopefully, this next week. I just have to get it planned. It's a busy weekend with Christmas stuff going on with the kids, so my planning may not come until Monday.
