Today was a reading day. Yeah, we did workbooks stuff too, but we also finished or almost finished many books. It seems to happen that way for us. We'll be trudging through all these books and then, bam, we finish a bunch up in a day or two. Laura gains a real sense of accomplishment when she finishes a bunch of books. And it is always exciting to make the trip to the library for the next set. In a day or two we will start reading some more Sonlight selections from their core 2 and 3. Laura has loved most of these books and they are excellent literary choices.
I have to laugh because, before we start a book, Laura always rolls her eyes and thinks she isn't going to like it. She did this with The Courage of Sarah Noble. Yet, now that the book is pages from being finished, Laura is sad that it is ending. I agree, the book is adorable.
We hope to begin The Chalk Box Kid, Frog and Toad All Year, Strawberry Girl, A Lion to Guard Us, and The Matchlock Gun all in the next two weeks. Quite a reading load with Christmas coming. However, I think I will have a book or two for Laura to be reading even while we are on Christmas Break. (And since I am homeschooling I can call it Christmas Break, not Winter Break. So There! HA!)
