Weekly Wrap-up 11-21-08

It's been a productive week. Next week we are only having school for three days and then taking the Holiday off to enjoy.
Bible - Laura has read through Joseph and is ready to begin Moses. She has read more in the book of Matthew.
Math - Worked on steadily. I am letting Laura play some math games on the computer to help with learning some of the new concepts.
Reading - Finished Sign of the Beaver this week, plus a read-aloud called The Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving. Laura is making progress through Crossroads A Beka reader and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Not sure what we are going to next for the Read- Aloud. Sign of the Beaver was for History too. May just switch to Little House on the Prairie. Also I am looking into some American Girl and Sisters in Time books to supplement reading and history.
History - We only have a few more days to study the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving this year. Then we are moving on. We have read several books about this, and Laura has studied this before so she knows her stuff.
Science - Laura is learning about the Sun, Moon, and Galileo. We will learn more about Stars and the Solar System in the next couple weeks.
Grammar - Learned about Subjects and Predicates and Capitalization. I mixed up the order we are covering things in the Harcourt book and the results of that have been good.
Spelling - Was a good week for Laura. She did well. I have her doing more writing with the words. I think it helped.

Cutting back on some of our work and slowing down a bit has helped tremendously with getting other things accomplished. Now, I don't feel like we aren't getting to important stuff.
