I didn't count on getting sick. I mean, I knew it would happen one day, but I really didn't expect it the first week. So, we did everything except the read- aloud time. My head and sinuses are so congested. I took some medicine, and that just made my nose run. Actually sitting down and reading out loud was difficult. I read half a chapter of Om-Kas-Toe, and then gave up trying.
Laura was awesome, however. She whizzed through the math and grammar pages quickly. She was excited that Bible time included a craft today. She started learning about the food pyramid. All in all, we may have only spent a little over 2 hours on school, but we got quite a bit covered. I wanted her to have her spelling test, but we'll review and test next week. It's only a 3 day week with Fall Break on Thursday and Friday. I wasn't planning on covering a spelling unit next week
.
This first week has gone well, considering that I pulled my daughter out of public school after the year had begun. I am a little surprised that all Laura seemed to have covered this year in public school in 9 weeks was ISTEP and review of second grade. I don't think she'd gotten to any new skills.
I keep asking my daughter if she likes learning at home. She always says yes. I guess I just want to reassure myself that I made the right decision for her. I know...I know, quit stressing.
