Capturing a Moment

I love this picture!  I captured it quickly while we were gathered for family pictures.  I didn't plan it or have her pose for it.  It was cold outside, and we were all freezing.  Laura jumped on the rock and I snapped a quick pic, not expecting such a beautiful shot of my ten year old.  She is growing up fast.  I love capturing the moments of my children's lives.  Those moments soon pass.  Children grow up quickly.  They quickly grow up and have their own lives.  I have spent years capturing the moments while I can and enjoying my children while they were children.

God has talked to me recently about living in the moment and enjoying my family.  My oldest daughter moving away has been tough, but I have a renewed appreciation for those moments with the children that are younger and at home.  With my trusty new Canon by my side (even if it isn't a professional one), I plan to capture those moments that make up our lives.

I'm not a professional photographer by any means.  I have always loved taking pictures, though. The huge cabinet full of photo albums and scrapbooks is proof enough for most people I know.  Luckily, cameras have improved a great deal.  A person does not have to buy a camera that costs thousands to take great pictures.  As much as I love playing with my sister's pro camera she has for her new business, I know that I can be content with what I have.  After months with only my cell phone camera, my point and shoot camera is a blessing.

I may often have poor lighting or harsh shadows.  The pictures may blur here and there.  But I will capture the moments anyway, for they are the story of our lives.  We live our lives for God, so those moments will hopefully show honor and glory for Him.
