Picking up some Heart of Dakota again

Finally able to spend the day at home, I dug into helping Laura with her schoolwork.  We had a good day, even getting to some neglected read aloud time.  We began Missionary Stories with the Millers this afternoon.  So far Laura and I are both loving the book.

It was time to start a new science pace.  I decided instead to do a book I didn't do last year.  I had bought Find the Constellations by H.A. Rey for use with our Heart of Dakota program.  However, I think the program that I purchased was just too advanced for Laura last year.  This year, however, she is older and a bit more advanced.  I decided to go ahead and use the book with the Heart of Dakota schedule, questions, and experiments.  Laura has been begging for more experiments.  We will take a break from ACE Science for this program.  It actually should take until December to get through, so we might have to skip a pace here and there... or be a little behind.  It's not a big deal to me.  Adding a little variety has been the goal for the last couple of weeks.

Megan has been painting again.  She's had a bit of a cold, so I haven't let her play outside as much.  However, she has also been very restless because she isn't outside running off her excess energy.  Today she was a handful.  So, I'm hoping she can go outside tomorrow and play for a couple hours.  The weather is changing fast, and the temperatures are dropping.  I want Megan to be able to go outside anyway.  She loves it outside and just seems to behave more and sleep better when she gets to enjoy lots of fresh air.
