The Wright Brothers and Their Sister - A Review

The Wright Brothers and their Sister
I've been trying to read some of Laura's readers before the school year begins so I know the stories.  Recently I read The Story of The Wright Brothers and Their Sister by Lois Mills.  Christian Liberty uses this as a reader for third grade.  I have been wanting to have Laura read it since we began homeschooling, but just never got around to doing it.  I don't think the reading level will be too easy for her, however.

I thought the book was interesting.  It showed the Wright Brothers in a very personal light.  It showed their relationship with their little sister as loving and tender.  While the book wasn't overly exciting, it did hold my attention.  I learned a lot about this famous duo.  I liked learning about all the times they failed at learning about flight, and how those failures only spurred them on to learn more.

I'm glad Laura will be reading this book this year.  She isn't a huge history fan, but she does like stories that bring to life people from the past.
