Reading Adventures - Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle

I once bet one of my daughters  that she wouldn't read Mrs. Piggle Wiggle in a weekend, even for five dollars.  I think I won the bet. I also read Mrs. Piggle- Wiggle as a read aloud to a different daughter when she was around Megan's age.

When I ventured into the book again, I was uncertain.  It is a book full of imaginative encounters as parents attempt to follow Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's advice to problems other parents are having with their children.

I was uncertain because I try to avoid books where witches are portrayed as good.  Sure enough, in the first chapter, this happened to me. I read through the chapter quickly, doing my best to downplay and edit.  After the first chapter, the book flowed nicely.

The book is entertaining and fun.  Megan found a few moments to laugh at various scenes thought the story.  She even thought a few of those moments might touch too close to issues we have had to deal with in our own home.

Our Read Aloud time in the evening hasn't been put off, despite the fact that we put off some of our school reading temporarily.  It is one of my favorite times of my day.  I am not sure what book we will choose next, but I love the time with my youngest daughter, my older ones sneaking in to hear the story also.
