My Little Actress and Songbird

This week is a very busy week.  One daughter is working at a local teen mission program with my oldest and her husband, serving the local community.
Another daughter is staying with her newly married sister an hour away. And my youngest is in the final days of rejearsals for the musical, Oklahoma.

Today I was with my youngest at rehearsal from around five in the afternoon until nearly ten at night. The next two nights will surely be the same. And then there is the play on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday!

Megan is a little young for this group.  There are other children in the production, but the theater group is open to all ages, and usually focuses on adults. In a couple of years Megan will be able to join the Children's Theater group in town, but not until after fourth grade.  She'll join them already having some  experience with acting and singing on stage.

Right now is crunch time, and it's a bit stressful.  Spending five hours a day at the local high school, sitting in a hallway helping watch children, while actors run to and fro and stress out, is not always fun.  Megan gets bored at times when she is tired of coloring in between her scenes.

I'm in the middle of cleaning and decluttering our lives... a major project! I want to have a majority of this completed within a week (Yes, I'm crazy). Our homeschool year begins in a couple weeks, and I am not entirely ready.  I still need to get my daughters eye exams and dental check-ups in the next couple of months.  Music lessons will hopefully begin soon.  And... My youngest is going to play soccer this fall.

Guess the simplicity I've been pursuing needs a little tweaking.

However, I am blessed.  My children are all great people.  Megan got tired at this time last year when she did the play.  She wanted to quit.  After seeing some of the attitudes of the adult actors and actresses, I guess I can't be surprised that a child feels similar.  All changed last year on opening night. Megan suddenly was totally in love with being on stage.  All the work was suddenly worth it.

I have a feeling this weekend will be similar.  My sister is also in the play, and Megan idolizes her.  They are together in several scenes, including a dance to the song "Many a New Day."  This will be a memory my daughter will carry with her for a long time.

It may be a busy week, and I am tired.  However, I am balancing the busy play and my decluttering project with some prayer time and a long hot bath.
