The Charm of an Old Theater

My 17 year old has been working her first job, and it's such an awesome atmosphere.  She works at a renovated old movie theater.

The theater was built in 1928.  It was closed in 1983 for renovations that didn't happen then. It sat empty for many years. Once it was finally reopened in 2007, it quickly became a treasure.

Our town has a big, modern theater across town with multiple screens.  I always felt this old theater had more charm and personality. When my daughter got a part-time job there, I thought that had to the perfect high school job for my homeschooling junior.

This evening, as her father and I picked her up after work, I snapped some photos the interior.  The interior of the theater is simply charming.  Modern mixed with antiques, the theater's owners strive to provide family friendly films for our town, with the price of admission and concessions so much more affordable than the multiplex across town.

My daughter has days where she loves her job, and days where she gets frustrated. I hate to tell her that  this job will be a fond memory.  The old building provides a movie-going experience that brings a bit of the past to life.

My daughter won't be at this job forever. However, she loves movies and gets to see them for free.  She's  learning many lessons on this job that I would not be able to teach her easily in our little homeschool.
