Studying the Tabernacle

Last week we dove into our Bible studies with an in depth study of the Tabernacle. This is one subject where we could study for years and never learn it all!  But... I don't have years.  We worked for a week.

My goal was to teach an overview of the Tabernacle, the various customs, and then tell what the significance was of each tradition and ceremony and furniture piece.  I especially wanted to emphasize how Christ was represented in the Tabernacle.

I love studying Israelite traditions because they are always very visual.  From the Altar of Burned Offerings (Brazen Altar) to the Mercy Seat, each is significant. The Hebrew people, known for their intelligence, are a very visual group of people.  I'm learning how amazing that visual learning is for spurring memory of lessons... Whether from God or just our school studies.

We built a model of the Tabernacle with a kit I purchased last year.  This helped show many details that would have not seemed significant with only some pictures. I loved the views of The Holy Place and The Holy of Holies.

I think we will use a lot more visuals in our lessons!
