Learning About Leadership

We spent three weeks delving into Psalms 23, digging in deep to what it means to be led by the Great Shepherd.  It was such a great study!  Moving on, we are jumping into a quick study on being a leader.  Reading through it, I was struck with how lessons in Biblical Leadership are so important.

This is especially true for my older girls.  As they get older they will find many times where they must stand up and lead.  They will face times where the Lord will call them to do something that seems impossible, that goes against what is politically correct.  At that crossroad, if they are lacking in leadership skills, it may be easier to compromise and just follow the crowd.

There are several steps to being a Godly leader outlined.  I LOVE number one.  I love education.  However, the best education are the revelations that are given by God.  Too many times education becomes an idol.  I personally feel that no education is ever wasted.  God will use everthing for His Glory.  But when test scores or academic achievements take the place of or are elevated above Godly learning and wisdom, chaos reigns.  We end up with a bunch of "educated" people that live only for self and measure their worth by their accomplishments.

While we study leadership, we will be reading a couple of biographies on leaders that were great in their field.  Both of the older girls are reading a biography about Francis Scott Key.  Jasmine is reading a biography about Albert Einstein.  Laura is enjoying reading about Henry Ford.  Mommy is reading some simple stories about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Benjamin Franklin to my six year old Meggy.

Soon we will jump with both feet into the Exodus.  I grow more and more excited about all the incredible ways God is guiding us in our homeschool as we place His Word center of our school and lives!
