| Tasha & Meg after shopping |
I went shopping last night. I received a check that allowed me to do some actual Christmas shopping. While the amount I spent wasn't much, it allowed me to actually purchase presents for my children. I was beginning to worry that Christmas was going to consist of nearly nothing. But...God provided.
My children are getting one "big" gift each. Gone are the days of hundreds or thousands of dollars being spent on stuff. For my family, that's just too expensive. Plus, that "stuff" turns into clutter quickly.
Instead, we make a very real effort to have Christ be the focus of Christmas. We enjoy family traditions and being together. My oldest daughter will be moving home in a week with her husband, and I am looking forward to having her around, even though it will probably only be temporary.
My husband had vacation time stored up that he is finally able to take. Starting today, he will be home for eleven days, work for two, then have another five days off. This is a wonderful gift, greater than any material possession. His work schedule usually keeps him so busy that we only get a couple days a week with him.
God did bless me last night. I found something special for each person I was shopping for except one. I found awesome sales that really helped my tiny budget. Best of all I got to enjoy a fun evening with two of my daughters. We even got to go out for dinner, which is rare treat for me.
My plans for this holiday season is to relax and enjoy the little things. Two of my daughters are in the church Christmas play this coming weekend. With my husband home, we can have a Christmas movie night. God has blessed me greatly with my family.
