Writing a Letter to Reddy Fox

Megan and I are reading the book The Adventures of Reddy Fox.  It is a lot of fun!  I was worried that Megan wouldn't get into it very much. While there are a few black and white pictures, it's not a typical picture story book.  Most of the story is told without pictures to embellish anything.  Instead, Megan must use her imagination!

It turns out that she LOVES it!  I save story time for the end of our school day.  Today, after I read the chapter to Megan, she was to dictate a letter to Reddy Fox.  Mommy wrote out what she wanted to tell Mr. Fox.  Megan included things like how bad it was to boast and to be nice.  At the end of the letter, she was to add her own name.  Well... since Mommy wrote the letter, Megan felt that Mommy's name should be on it too.  She is very sweet.
I was thrilled that Megan was encouraged to think of the story and put things into her own words.  This is an excellent way to begin learning narrating skills!  Little Hearts for His Glory is an amazing program!
