Relaxing in My Homeschool

It has been awhile since I have kept up with school work on my blog.  Megan has been doing very little.  It seems like I have hit wall after wall in trying to get her work done.  From a broken printer, to my mother-in-law falling and breaking her ankle, Megan has been the one I have pushed aside.
Today, I picked up one of the workbooks I have, and had Megan do a couple of pages in it.  It was simple stuff that helps her hand/eye coordination.  Gluing, coloring, matching... that kind of stuff.
I don't really stress with Megan and her work.  She is four.  I keep the television off.  I let her play.  She colors.  She dresses up in costumes.  We read library books together.  She sings and laughs.  While it has been a wonderful experience to use a formal preschool program with Megan, I know that it isn't the end of the world if we miss.
Megan won't be starting Kindergarten work until probably August.  We have lots of time to learn the rest of the letters and their sounds.  It is more important to me that Megan get to use her imagination.  It is more important to me that we read a lot together.
I have definitely relaxed quite a bit in my homeschool philosophies from a couple years ago.  While I believe a child should be learning all the time, I have realized that there are a variety of ways that can happen.
Megan spends a lot of time playing.  Guess what?  She is learning as she plays.  She is learning more by playing that she often is by the other formal school work I try to do with her.  I've learned to relax and just let her learn.
