We did some pajama schooling this morning. Megan loved gluing macaroni to her letter "M".
Today, our Bible story was on Elisha and the Oil. There are many spiritual connotations to this story that my little 4 year old is too young to grasp. (Get Oil!, referring to the Holy Spirit.) Megan enjoyed the story. I don't think she understood that the oil didn't run out, That God kept the containers full.
Even when we did the activity, I don't think Megan understood. Our "oil" ran out. When she had poured it all into the containers, it was gone. I tried explaining that the oil in the story never ran out because God kept it full. She just gave me that confused look. Yes, explaining miracles to a 4 year old can sometimes be difficult. Most of the time they except everything on faith. Sometimes, it is just a little too advanced for them.
That's okay, because Megan liked the activity. She'll remember the story because she enjoyed the activity that went with it. One day, she will be old enough to understand.
