A Dressed-Up Trip to the Nursing Home

It wasn't a field trip exactly. However, we did learn how much fun it can be to put on our costumes and get candy from elderly at the nursing home. Once a year the Care Center down the road has a night of dress-up fun. They encourage the local children to come dressed in costume. Some of the residents and many of the workers also dress up. The children walk around to each resident and they pass out candy to the kids.

Laura is Belle this year. She has always had a thing for Beauty and the Beast. I always laugh and tell her that Belle is my favorite too. Of all the Disney princesses, Belle loves books!

Megan is Nemo this year. She didn't choose this costume. Her grandmother found it at a yard sale for an awesome price. The costume is adorable, however, and all my kids love the movie. Megan isn't too happy about the fin hat. She isn't fond of any hat and ones shaped like a fin are a little strange for her. She did like to make fish faces with Aunt Kendal.

But she put it on once we got to the Care Center. She loved the other kids in costume. She kept waving and saying "Hi" to everyone.

My sister and her husband showed off their little lion. It's his first time getting to dress up in costume and get candy.

Laura walked around getting candy and, basically, just enjoying herself.

Megan needed a little more help. However, she is so tiny that the residents just loved her. Even with her fin hat she got a lot of comments on her curls.

It was a successful evening and a great beginning to the weekend. Laura and Megan had fun at the nursing home. They came home with candy, which the adults liked to pick through.
