Weekly Wrap-up

It's a short week. Thursday and Friday are days off to celebrate Thanksgiving with family. It will probably be a difficult Thanksgiving for my husband as it is the first Holiday without his dad. But we will be together and, though we miss his Father very much, we are Thankful to God that Dave was a devoted Christian. We know the feast we will enjoy is nothing compared to eating with Lord Jesus.
Math - This was a light week. We are progressing in Math, getting ready in a few short weeks to begin multiplication. Kind of nervous about that. I have every intention of getting Times Tales when we get past the fives. Other than that Laura is doing well. She read The Pizza Palace, a story about fractions.
Science - Laura learned a little about Astronauts, Tides, Stars, and Star Sounds. We did one little experiment. Other than that it was an easy week of just Pace work.
History - Laura began reading an American Girl Book. She read about Colonies in her Heritage Studies book. She read about Pocahontas. And she watched "An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving" movie based on the book by Louisa May Alcott that we read aloud last week.
Reading - Laura read 3 chapters in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She Finished her Crossroads A Beka reader. She read a book about speaking politely. She did one lesson from her Reading Skills book. We are reading The Children's Book of Virtues together. It may take a couple weeks, but we are enjoying it.
Language Arts - Laura did a review week of spelling words. She learned about types of sentences, compound words, and ending punctuation.
Writing - Laura worked on the letters I and J in cursive. Not much else got accomplished.
Bible - Laura is reading about Moses in the Old Testament. She is reading Matthew 10 and 11 in the New Testament.

That's about it this week. I want to plan some field trips, but with only one vehicle going right now, it's not so easy to travel. However, there's going to be lots of Christmas activities that are local. Plus, I am planning to meet with a local Homeschool Group in December.

Everyone have a blessed, safe, and fabulous Thanksgiving.
