Laura did another experiment today in her study of the constellations. She learned today why it appears that the sun is moving through the constellations, when that is not really the case. This has been a good study of the earth's rotation and how it makes it appear that everything else in the universe is moving.
Laura is enjoying having experiments again. She looks forward to them. While we are taking more of a nature study focus in science, we are continuing with our Heart of Dakota science studies that we stopped last year. It kind of means doing two science lessons. Yet, so far, it hasn't been overwhelming. Nature studies are interesting for us, and I feel that they add to all our subjects. The cold weather is playing havoc with our getting outside for nature study time, so we are forced to use other methods. We are reading a lot of living books about animals right now. Laura is loving the books, though. She usually is excited to narrate the adventures she has read about from Mother West Wind or the Treasury for Children.
