Decorating the Blog for Christmas |
And I haven't even watched "It's a Wonderful Life" yet!
It makes little sense! We have had one of the roughest years we've ever had.
However, Christmas is only more meaningful than ever. Christ has kept us all here on Earth for another year. Christ has walked us through tough times and decisions, and blessed us in spite of it all.
BLESSINGS:
- A friend randomly called one day telling us about a job she thought would be perfect for my husband. At first we weren't sure, but he decided to go for it. He got the job. After years of working midnights at a job he stuck with because it paid the bills better than most, he now has a job that, for the most part, is days with weekends home. HE LOVES IT!!!! The money isn't better... yet, but we have insurance and benefits that we couldn't afford before from his previous employment.
- We downsized. At first, that did not feel like a blessing. It felt like everything we had worked for years to attain was slipping though our fingers. But, after a few months, we are slowly adapting. I've come to see the stress level decreasing as an amazing thing. One day maybe I'll tell the story of this year. But, for now, I can look back and see that Christ was with us the entire journey.
- Tough times bring things into perspective. Christ has never meant as much to us as now. He is worth celebrating. So... this Christmas, I want to honor Him with everything I have in me. A big birthday celebration for my King sounds wonderful. I've been so not in the Christmas spirit the last few years. I've been stressed and ill and despised what Christmas has come to mean in the world. God straightened out my attitudes in many areas of my life over this past year. He showed me that He is with me in a way that was never as real to me before, and I long to just love and worship my King.
I decorated my blog for Christmas. Silly? Sure, but I don't care. If I can bring a smile to one face for the sake of Jesus, then it is worth it.
